What the heck is going on in San Antonio?

The Kawhi Leonard saga continues as he has yet to return despite a player meeting this week and telling the team he would shoot for coming back this week.

As the regular season comes to a close, the San Antonio Spurs find themselves fighting just to remain in the playoff picture while Leonard continues to sit out due to an injured quad. Leonard has only played in nine games this season and the Spurs are currently the six seed in the Western Conference, three games ahead of the ninth place Denver Nuggets. Leonard has been sidelined since January 13 with his quad injury and has since rejoined the team for almost a month. He continues to practice with the team, but has yet to step on the court in a game.

So here's where things start getting strange.

Leonard has been practicing with the team, and despite making progress, has said that he still doesn't feel ready to return to the lineup.

ESPN reporter Adrian Wojnarowski reported earlier today that the Spurs held a player meeting last weekend where many Spurs players got very emotional towards Leonard. However, the Spurs forward was adamant that he had a reason behind sitting out. Wojnarowski also claims there is some dysfunction in the San Antonio locker room with Leonard being secluded. Shortly after the article was posted, San Antonio Spur Danny Green took to Twitter, replying, "Couldn't be anymore incorrect lol."

Fellow teammate Tony Parker had what was believed to be a more serious quad injury in May and returned in November after using team doctors. Kawhi, after opting to use his own doctors instead of team doctors, told the team he expected to make a return this week. As it stands, he has not returned. The Spurs will be back in action tomorrow night against the Jazz and Leonard is listed as inactive.
